What is HR Certification?
Human Resource certification is a symbol of professional achievement. Beyond experience and education, the PHR (Professional in Human Resources) or SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) designation signifies that you have mastered the HR body of knowledge as defined by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).

The PHR exam consists of HR generalist information at the operational/technical level. The SPHR exam focuses on strategic and policy areas.

HRCI strongly recommends that candidates attempting the PHR Exam have 2-4 years of exempt-level HR experience and candidates attempting the SPHR Exam have 6-8 years of exempt-level HR experience.

The exams are offered twice a year (May and December) in major cities across the country.  It is also offered at the SHRM Annual Conference and Exposition.

HRCI Offers Online Practice Exam
The Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) recently introduced an online diagnostic practice exam.  This exam will help you to assess your knowledge before you take the actual PHR and SPHR exams.  You can take the exams 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  All you need is a computer with access to the Internet using Microsoft® Internet Explorer. The exam fee is $45.

What's Included in the Exam?
The practice exam will help you to determine whether or not you're ready to take the actual exam.  The practice PHR exam deals with the technical and operational side of HR and the SPHR exam focuses more on strategic and policy areas.  What's unique about these exams is that they include retired questions from prior tests.
