May 2018 Chapter Meeting: Washington Paid Family & Medical Leave

Presented by: Bob Battles, Association of Washington Business Legislative Division

Washington enacted landmark legislation on Paid Family and Medical Leave. Many employers have asked - how does the new law apply to them? Join Bob Battles, AWB’s General Counsel and Government Affairs Director Employment Law, in a discussion on the new Paid Family and Medical Leave law. Participants will learn details regarding what the new legislation and agency rulemaking requires of employers and employees. We will review the elements of the new law and provide insight into why certain provisions were included. HR professionals will also learn what employers should be doing now to prepare for the upcoming implementation of the law.

Bob Battles – Bob Battles is AWB’s Director of Government Affairs Employment Law and also serves as AWB’s general counsel. He is lead advisor on workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, and other workplace issues, including employment law, wage and hour issues, workplace safety and legal affairs.
