Job Title: Human Resources Generalist Company: Pasco School District Location: Pasco, WA Salary: $65,533 - $77,845
Job Purpose Statement:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible to perform a variety of human resources functions at a professional level in their functional area(s). Functional areas of expertise may include one or more of the following specialties: employee relations, labor relations, employment, compensation, benefits administration, workers’ compensation, leaves of absence, and training and development. The position regularly and customarily exercises discretion and independent judgment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintains current working knowledge of district policies and procedures.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws, rules, regulations, trends, and best practices in human resources.
- Responsible for fair and timely resolution of matters within functional area, minimizing any legal exposure to the district.
- Responds objectively with sensitivity and diplomacy to employment related inquiries from employees and managers.
- Provides guidance to operational leadership and employees on human resources issues.
- Participates and supports process improvement by providing appropriate documentation, training, reporting research and analysis for functional areas.
- Serves as organizational subject matter expert for functional areas.
- Promotes excellence in customer service with the public and district staff.
- Performs as a cooperative team member to promote effective customer service, productivity and work relationships in the Employee Services department.
- Works closely with the employee relations team to identify, research and resolve matters.
- Manages special projects as assigned.
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
- Assists with preparation of plans, procedures, documents, and report.
Other Job Functions:
- Supports other personnel as may be required to assist them in the completion of their work activities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements - Qualifications:
Education & Experience Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required. Equivalent work experience may act as a substitute for educational requirements.
- A minimum of three (3) years of human resources experience required.
- Human Resources experience in a work environment governed by collective bargaining agreements required.
Skills & Abilities Required:
- Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws involving employment, HR, and HR policies.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee and union relations, diversity, and performance management.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, and absentee management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing:
- Required: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
- Preferred: SHRM and/or HRCI certification.
