Job Title: Site HR Generalist IV – Sr. HR Advisor

Position Summary:

The HR Advisor performs human resources activities and carries out responsibilities that are varied and broad in nature, working in several or all HR functional areas. Functional areas include but are not limited to: compensation, employee benefits, operations, Technology, organizational development, staffing, administration, workforce planning and employee, People Development and labor relations. Independently resolve complex problems which require considerable subjective judgment and stand alone decision-making. Develops and leads projects and programs with broad-based implications.

Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments. Has comprehensive knowledge of HR policies, procedures and programs and the ability to implement and communicate them to employees and managers. Strong business acumen with the ability to encompass Human Resources principles. Strong labor relations and union avoidance skills.

Skills:   Excellent consulting skills, excellent client management, strong business acumen, strong conflict management skills, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills and excellent verbal and written communication. Excellent analytical analysis skills and ability to use a variety of data sources to support management’s decision making.

Ability to:  Develop strong trusting relationships, effectively envision, develop and implement new strategies to address competitive, complex business issues, manage multiple business units in multiple locations, manage multiple conflicting priorities, work in environment with international objectives, ability to understand issues domestically and internationally and communicates effectively with clients, be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels, be self-directed and motivated, takes initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the primary HR contact for managers and employees in the guidance, interpretation and application of corporate policies and procedures. Daily focus is normally one or more significant business areas. 
  • In depth knowledge of different business groups and have the ability analyze trends and metrics in partnership with HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of company business objectives and strategies, organizational structure, and management philosophies, policies, and systems to effectively advise management on complex HR issues. Proven ability to conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Strong labor relations experience and ability to negotiate union contracts.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with legal department as needed/required.
  • Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Develops leadership that is accountable, employee focused, and culturally engaged that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement and high performance as well as responsible succession planning.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Work closely with People Development team on Employee evaluations (PDA: Performance Development Assessment, People reviews and the Mentoring Program to assure development of employees. Additionally, participate in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs. Follow-up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Work with Compensation on salary planning, job descriptions and compensation reviews.
  • Thorough understanding of all companies benefits with ability to manage benefits such as AAP, FMLA and STD.
